The training run that sucked.. but didn't

Today I went for my last training walk before my half marathon next week. Nothing went right on this run, but everything did. It was a Run of firsts. After church I realized that my phone was almost dead. The portable charger that I had for it only had 2 lights, so it got my phone from 17% to 30%. knowing that I would need my phone in case of emergencies, I chose to run without music. That's right, no music... at all.. no podcast, no music, no audible, nothing. Thankfully i was in a beautiful place. a place surrounded by the ocean. It was simply beautiful. i have never run there before. So, that is two first: - no music - brand new location So, that's two new firsts, why not add a third! I have been a bit disappointed with how my Garmin vivo Fit tracks my mileage. It is REALLY off. The other day I found a forerunner that a friend gave me. So I used that. So, no music new location new GPS tracker. Why did this run not suck, it was awesome! - Everything was new. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!! - There were some hills. Yes, they sucks, but i enjoyed them. It was a really nice change. I listened to the waves crash, I smelled the salt air, I saw the flowers in bloom, it was wonderful. Should the run have been longer? Sure it should have. I should have run 10 miles, I ran 6. Why didn't I run further, i got one of those cramps that says "I might need a bathroom, and when I do, I'll need it fast" While it turned out to be just a warning, I chose to stop. Normally I plan my long runs around places where I know there are bathrooms (dunkin donuts, convenience stores, etc). See new location, so see "didn't know where the bathrooms would be" honestly. No big deal, it was worth it. I know I will finish my race next week, I might have a great race, i might finish right within the race time limit, doesn't matter to me. I will finish.
